Biography
Darlene Shadden was born in Rockwood, Tennessee and grew up in a rural environment which included a two room schoolhouse and an outdoor privy.
Her creative career has included music and dance as well as art.
Her art career started in Nashville at Centennial Art Center where she first met artist Hazel King, who has been a principal influence in her artistic development.
Darlene's works have appeared in many exhibits and shows throughout the United States and in Europe. She has studied art in Paris and Amsterdam. She is a member of the Portrait Society of America and attends its workshops regularly to incorporate the techniques of other successful portrait painters into her work.
She enjoys travel, ballroom dancing, and reading. She recently finished reading Kafka's "The Castle" which she found spiritually fascinating.
